Wish Granted As Preacher Dies in Pulpit
Hillary Wittner, 44, of Cego, died the way
he wanted to Sunday at the pulpit in the Cego Baptist Church near where he was
born. Mr. Wittner took up preaching two years ago after suffering a slight heart
attack and told Chilton Baptist preacher (?) Bratcher he wanted to die in the
pulpit. Sunday morning he collapsed from a heart attack while preaching in the
church and died on the way to Marlin Hospital.
A brief service will be held in Wilkirson
and Hatch Chapel at 3 p.m. Monday, followed by services at 4 p.m. at the
Cottonwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cego Cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lola Wittner,
a teacher at La Vega; his father, Frank Wittner of Cego, and a brother, Julius
Wittner of Chilton.
